The Nutrition Research Institute at Kannapolis is a branch of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.
The Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) is a world class research institute devoted to discovering why people differ greatly in metabolism and nutrient requirements. Recent advancements in biotechnology makes it possible to develop the field of individualized nutrition, and the NRI leads the international effort in this area. This new effort of UNC-Chapel Hill is funded by the State of North Carolina, with additional generous support from the David Murdock Research Foundation. The NRI is part of a major new North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis near Charlotte, NC. This emerging campus will house major programs from 7 Universities, and promises to revitalize the economy in this area of the State.
Our new 126,000 sf building will be completed in June 2008. The NRI's building will house a metabolic kitchen, clinical facilities, a cognitive assessment suite, state-of-the-art laboratories, ample office space, and tentatively a body composition laboratory.
The NRI’s inaugural workshop series, Frontiers in Nutrition was a wonderful success! We hope that those who attended the series were able to take away useful information. We hope to see you again at our next event. If you missed any of the lectures, presentation handouts from lectures are now available (Click Here).
